8 Years of Sends: Growing with purpose, giving with heart

Sends turns eight. Eight years of building connections, powering payments, and helping people manage money with confidence.

But this year, instead of simply celebrating our success, we wanted to share it. To make our eighth anniversary truly meaningful, we chose to give back – by helping those who need it most.

To mark the milestone, Sends donated £25,000  to UNICEF UK's Ukraine Appeal, supporting children and families as they face another brutal winter of war.

For our team, this initiative is deeply personal. With strong Ukrainian roots across our company, we know how hard life has become for millions of people still living through the conflict – and how even a small act of kindness can bring hope when it’s needed most.

“When Sends was founded, we wanted to do more than build a business — we wanted to make a difference, “ says Alona Shevtsova, CEO of Sends. “As someone with deep Ukrainian roots, this initiative is especially close to my heart. Our team wanted to bring a bit of light and hope to those facing another winter away from peace and safety – one expected to be the toughest since the war began. For us, this is about turning our efforts into something truly meaningful.”

Supporting warmth, safety, and hope through UNICEF

Since the start of the conflict, UNICEF has been working tirelessly across Ukraine to protect children, restore access to education and healthcare, and help families survive the harsh conditions. As Ukraine enters its fourth winter of full-scale war, millions face freezing temperatures without reliable heating or shelter.

Sends’ donation will directly support UNICEF’s Winter Response Plan, which delivers practical, life-saving aid. The £25,000 contribution will help to:

  • Provide fleeces and thermal blankets for 6,756 babies in hospitals and day-care centres.
  • Supply winter clothing for 457 displaced children.
  • Fund the training of 30 mental health paraprofessionals, supporting children coping with trauma.
  • Offer emergency cash assistance to hundreds of families, empowering them to meet their most urgent needs.

These are not just numbers – they represent warmth, dignity, and a chance for children and parents to regain a sense of stability in the hardest season of the year.

Eight years of growth, one enduring mission

Over the past eight years, Sends has grown into a trusted financial platform connecting individuals, freelancers, and businesses across borders. But growth, for us, has always meant more than numbers – it’s about impact.

We believe that financial success carries a responsibility to give back, to support communities, and to use what we’ve built to make a real difference.

“Winter in Ukraine is unforgiving, and for displaced families, it’s far more than just difficult weather,” our team shared. “Every contribution, no matter its size, translates into real protection, real warmth, and real hope. This is how we choose to mark our eighth year.”

As we step into our ninth year, our commitment remains the same: to make everyday finance simpler, faster, and kinder – for everyone.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to doing good, together.
